Tablet for Dogs and Cats
DESCRIPTION:
Cylindrical tablets with a flat surface scored and beveled, white or light gray color, (on the surface of tablets allowed marbling – inclusions) with a specific smell.
COMPOSITION:
300 mg contains active substances:
Megestrol acetate – 5 mg;
Additional ingredients: powdered sugar, calcium carbonate, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, polyvinylpyrrolidone, flavor, magnesium stearate, sucram.
PHARMACOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Megestrol acetate is a synthetic progestogen, which affects the hypothalamic-pituitary system and blocks the allocation of animals gonadotrophins (follicle-stimulating and luteinizing). With a lack of these hormones in the blood of delayed maturation of follicles in the ovaries of females and males testosterone synthesis is blocked, resulting in terminated estrus and sexual attraction to animals. In males dogs and males cats drug reduces sexual activity and related behavior.
The mechanism of action of megestrol acetate has two main areas of impact on the body: anty-gonadotrophic activity manifested in inhibiting the secretion of gonadotropin hormones and delay ovulation, which is the result of delays clinically estrus; progestogen action is a direct effect on the endometrium of the uterus, which activates the secretory phase, which slows down the implantation of the embryo, increasing contraceptive properties of the drug.
APPLICATION:
Orally for dogs and cats to prevent or terminate the oestrus in female cats and female dogs, prevention of unwanted pregnancy in female cats and female dogs, as well as to suppress libido in males cats and males dogs.
DOSAGE :
Orally with food or force directly to the root of the tongue .
FEMALE CATS:
- For the prevention of oestrus – 1 tablet for 10-14 days.
After discontinuation of the drug, estrus occurs within 14
days;
- To stop oestrus 1 tablet daily for 3-5 days (from the time of display signs of sexual arousal);
- As a contraceptive – 3 tablets within one day after mating;
FEMALE DOGS:
For the prevention of oestrus – 1 tablet per 10 kg of body weight every 14 days. After discontinuation of the drug estrus occurs within 21 days;
To stop oestrus – 1 tablet per 10 kg of body weight for 7 days (from the time of display signs of sexual arousal);
As a contraceptive – 2 tablets per 5 kg of body weight daily for 2 days after mating.
MALE CATS:
For sedation during sexual arousal – 1 tablet daily for 3-5 days;
MALE DOGS:
For sedation during sexual arousal – 1 tablet per 10 kg body weight daily for 5 days.
CONTRAINDICATION :
Do not use the drug with diseases of the genitourinary system, tumors, immature, pregnant, and lactating animals.
Do not use the drug after the onset of estrus was more than 3 days, and young animals during their first estrus because of the difficulty determining the beginning of the cycle.
PRECAUTIONS:
Prolonged use of the drug may change the nature, development of breasts, increase appetite, and associated with its body weight.
PACKAGING :
Blister packaging 10, 30, 100 tablets inserted in cartons.
STORAGE:
Dark, dry place at a temperature from 5°C to 25°C and relative humidity above 75%.
Do not store together with food.
