DESCRIPTION:

Powder from light yellow to yellow color with a low specific smell

COMPOSITION:

1 g of the drug contains active substances:

Colistin sulphate – 500 000 IU;

Oxytetracycline hydrochloride – 35 mg;

trimethoprim – 90 mg.

Excipients: up to 1 g.

PHARMACOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Newform powder is a complex drug which components, acting synergistically, provide a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity.

Colistin is an antibiotic of the polymyxins group, which has bactericidal action on gram-negative bacteria (E. coli, Salmonella spp., Pasteurella spp., Haemophilus spp., Bordetella spp). Themechanism of action of colistin provides violation of the integrity of the cytoplasmic membrane of microorganisms. Bacterial membrane permeability changes immediately after contact with the drug. Colistin A binds phospholipid cell membranes by neutralizing the biological effect of bacterial endotoxin.

Oxytetracycline is a bacteriostatic antibiotic mechanism of action that provides violation of protein synthesis during its interaction with ribosomes and reduction of the permeability of the cytoplasmic membrane of susceptible microorganisms. The drug has a wide range of effects on gram-positive and gramnegative microorganisms: Streptococcus spp., Clostridium spp., Corynebacterium spp., Brucella spp., Haemophilus spp., E. coli, Pasteurella spp., Klebsiella spp., Erysipelothrix spp., Fusobacterium spp. , Salmonella spp., as well as on protozoa (Protozoa), mycoplasma (Mycoplasma spp.), rickettsia (Rickettsia spp.), and chlamydia (Chlamydia).

Trimethoprim is a chemotherapeutic drug, which has a bactericidal action against gram-positive (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Clostridium spp., Corynebacterium spp., and others.) and gram-negative (E. coli, Salmonella spp., Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp., Pasteurella spp., Bordetella spp., etc.) microorganisms. The drug inhibits bacterial reductase, which converts dihydrofolate into tetrahydrofolic acid, which is essential for the synthesis of purines and nucleic acids. Thereby trimethoprim blocks one of the basic processes of metabolism of bacteria towards protein synthesis.
