PHARMACOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Metofur is a complex drug with a wide range of bactericidal and bacteriostatic actions.

Metronidazole belongs to a 5-nitroimidazole group. Its mechanism of action is the biochemical restoration of the 5-nitroimidazole group by intracellular transport proteins of anaerobic bacteria and protozoa. Restored 5-nitro group of metronidazole interacts with the DNA of microbial cells by inhibiting the synthesis of nucleic acids, leading to the death of the microorganism. Effective against protozoa (Trichomonas vaginalis, Gardnerella vaginalis, Giardia intestinalis, Entamoeba histolytica), obligate anaerobic bacteria (Bacteroides fragilis, Bacteroides distasonis, Bacteroides ovatus, Bacteroides vulgatus), some gram-positive bacteria (Eubacterium spp., Clostridium spp., Peptococcus spp., Peptostreptococcus spp.).

Oxytetracycline hydrochloride is a bacteriostatic antibiotic which mechanism of action provides violation of protein synthesis during its interaction with ribosomes and provides reduction of the permeability of the cytoplasmic membrane of susceptible microorganisms. The drug has a broad spectrum of activity against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms: Streptococcus spp., Clostridium spp., Corynebacterium spp., Brucella spp., Haemophilus spp., E. coli, Pasteurella spp., Klebsiella spp., Erysipelothrix spp., Fusobacterium spp. , Salmonella spp., and protozoa (Protozoa), mycoplasma (Mycoplasma spp.), rickettsia (Rickettsia spp.), and chlamydia (Chlamydia).

Furazolidone is a synthetic antibacterial and antiprotozoal drug, a derivative of nitrofuran. It blocks the enzyme system of bacteria sensitive to it. Furazolidone is active against Giardia, Vibrio cholera, Trichomonas, Coccidia, as well as E. Coli, Enterobacter spp., Campylobacter spp., Salmonella spp.
