COMPOSITION:
1 ml of product contains active agent:
ceftiofur hydrochloride – 50 mg.
CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY:
Ceftiofur hydrochloride, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, exhibits a wide spectrum of bactericidal activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including strains that produce beta-lactamases. It also targets certain anaerobic bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Pasteurella haemolytica, and Salmonella cholerasuis, among others. Ceftiofur’s mechanism of action involves inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis.
APPLICATION:
Cattle: Ceftiofur is used to treat a range of conditions including respiratory diseases (such as pneumonia and bronchopneumonia), postpartum endometritis, mastitis, necrobacillosis, arthritis, sepsis, and other bacterial infections susceptible to ceftiofur.
Pigs: Ceftiofur is employed to treat respiratory diseases and other bacterial infections susceptible to ceftiofur.
DOSAGE:
Cattle: administer ceftiofur subcutaneously once a day at a dosage of 1 ml per 50 kg Body Weight Gain (BWG), equivalent to 1 mg of ceftiofur hydrochloride per 1 kg BWG. The treatment duration varies:
- Respiratory diseases: 3-5 days
- Necrobacillosis: 3 days
- Endometritis: 5 days
Pigs : administer ceftiofur intramuscularly once a day at a dosage of 1 ml per 16 kg BWG, equivalent to 3 mg of ceftiofur hydrochloride per 1 kg BWG, for 3-4 days.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
- Hypersensitivity: Avoid in animals with known hypersensitivity to ceftiofur or other beta-lactam antibiotics.
- Mixing: Do not mix with other drugs in the same syringe.
- Renal Impairment: Avoid use in animals with impaired renal function.
- Resistance: Do not use in cases of resistance to cephalosporins or other beta-lactam antibiotics.
- Route of Administration: Do not administer intravenously.
WITHDRAWAL:
The withdrawal periods for ceftiofur are as follows:
- Meat Consumption: 8 days for cattle and 5 days for pigs after the last application of the drug.
- Milk and Eggs Consumption: Not Applicable (N/A).
Any meat obtained before the withdrawal period deadline must either be fed to unproductive animals or utilized, as determined by a veterinarian.
PACKAGING:
Avilable in glass vial, 50, and 100 ml.
STORAGE :
Store the product in a dry, dark place inaccessible to children at a temperature ranging from 5°C to 25°C. After the first opening, the product remains usable for up to 28 days.
