Suspension for Intramammary Injection

COMPOSITION :

1 syringe tube (5 g) contains active substances:

Procaine penicillin – 100 000 IU;

Streptomycin sulfate – 100 mg;

Neomycin sulfate – 100 mg;

Prednisolone – 10 mg;

Excipients – up to 5 g

DESCRIPTION :

  • Form: Oily suspension
  • Color: White
  • Smell: Specific

PHARMACOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Procaine Penicillin:
    • Type: Penicillin group
    • Action: Bactericidal against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
    • Mechanism: Inhibits peptidoglycan synthesis, disrupting cell wall formation.
  • Streptomycin Sulfate:
    • Type: Natural aminoglycoside
    • Action: Bactericidal, particularly effective on reproducing bacteria.
    • Mechanism: Inhibits protein synthesis in microbial cells.
    • Target Bacteria: Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Brucella, Klebsiella, Mycobacterium, Neisseria, Pasteurella, Salmonella, Shigella, Haemophilus.
  • Neomycin Sulfate:
    • Type: Natural aminoglycoside
    • Action: Broad-spectrum antimicrobial.
    • Mechanism: Inhibits protein synthesis in microbial cells.
    • Target Bacteria: E. coli, Salmonella, Shigella, Meningococcus, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactiae, Enterococcus spp.
  • Prednisolone:
    • Type: Dehydrated analogue of hydrocortisone
    • Action: Anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, desensitizing, antishock, and antitoxic properties.
    • Mechanism: Induces lipocortin formation, reduces hyaluronidase activity, decreases capillary permeability.

APPLICATION:

  • Treatment of various forms of bacterial mastitis during lactation.

DOSAGE:

  • Administration:
    • Inject the contents of one syringe tube into the affected udder quarter.
    • Ensure the udder is pre-washed, disinfected, and milked before injection.
    • After injection, gently massage the udder from top to bottom for even distribution.
    • Preparation: Heat the syringe tube to 35-38°C in a water bath and shake vigorously to ensure a homogeneous mass before injection.
  • Frequency:
    • Repeated injections are conducted every evening after milking for 3-5 days.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

  • Allergy: Do not use in animals sensitive to penicillin or aminoglycosides.

PRECAUTIONS:

  • Meat: Consumption allowed 7 days after the last injection.
  • Milk: Consumption allowed 108 hours after the last drug application.
  • Post-Treatment: Meat and milk obtained within the withdrawal periods should be discarded or used for unproductive animals based on veterinary advice.
