DESCRIPTION :<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

An oily liquid ranging from light gray to light yellow color with a distinct smell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

COMPOSITION:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each 1 ml of the drug contains:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Megestrol acetate: 5 mg<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Additional ingredients: Polyethylene glycol-400 up to 1 ml<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Megestrol acetate, a synthetic progestogen, acts on the hypothalamic-pituitary system, inhibiting the release of gonadotrophins (follicle-stimulating and luteinizing hormones). This leads to delayed follicle maturation in the ovaries and blocks testosterone synthesis in males, resulting in suppressed estrus and sexual attraction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In dogs and cats, the drug reduces sexual activity and associated behaviors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The mechanism of action involves two main areas: antigonadotropic activity inhibits gonadotropin hormone secretion and delays ovulation, leading to suppressed estrus. Its progestogenic action directly affects the uterine endometrium, activating the secretory phase, delaying embryo implantation, and enhancing contraceptive properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    APPLICATION :<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Orally administered to cats for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Preventing or terminating estrus in female cats<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Preventing unwanted pregnancy in female cats<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Suppressing libido in male cats<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      DOSAGE :<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Administer orally with food or directly to the root of the tongue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Female Cats:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • To prevent estrus: 1 ml of the preparation for 10-14 days. Estrus typically resumes within 14 days after discontinuation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • To stop estrus: 1 ml of the preparation daily for 3-5 days (upon the onset of signs of sexual arousal).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • As a contraceptive: 3 ml of the preparation overnight after mating.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Male Cats:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        • For sedation during sexual arousal: 1 ml of preparation daily for 3-5 days.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          CONTRAINDICATION :<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Do not use in animals with genitourinary system diseases, tumors, immature, pregnant, or lactating animals. Avoid use in young animals during their first estrus due to cycle timing difficulties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          PRECAUTIONS:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Prolonged use may alter breast development, increase appetite, and lead to weight gain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          PACKAGING:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Available in plastic vials and\/or bottles (glass or plastic with a drip-stopper) of 1 ml, 2 ml, or 4 ml sizes, packaged in cartons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          STORAGE:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Store in a dark, inaccessible place at temperatures ranging from 5\u00b0C to 25\u00b0C. Avoid storage with food, beverages, or animal feeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
